Al-Hikmah University SIWES Unit in collaboration with ITF organised a day workshop for SIWES Coordinators

The Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Unit of Al-Hikmah University, in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Ilorin Area office, organised a-day workshop for SIWES Coordinators with the theme “Effective Administration and Supervision of SIWES students in the 21st Century, held at the Faculty of Natural and Applied Science Conference room, Adeta Campus Ilorin.

Dr Folashade Jimoh, the Director of Al-Hikmah University SIWES Unit, in her welcome address highlighted the importance of SIWES in bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical industry experience.

Dr Jimoh commended the ITF for organising the capacity-building workshop, describing it as timely and impactful for the successful implementation of SIWES activities in the university.
She encouraged participants to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure that students derive maximum benefits from their industrial training programmes.

Mrs Temitayo Quadri, the Area Manager, Ilorin Area office of ITF, in her speech, described SIWES as
a planned and structured programme that is based on stated and specific career objectives which are geared towards developing the occupational competencies of participants.

The Manager, emphasised on the importance of SIWES supervision in ensuring learning outcomes, students welfare and safety, and industrial-curriculum alignment.

Mrs Quadri, encouraged the participants to ensure that students log-books are properly vetted and submitted on time to the ITF office for proper documentation.

The ITF team also presented an award and certificate to the Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah Prof. Lateef Oladimeji and Dr Folashade Jimoh the Director of SIWES Unit for their exemplary leadership and contributions towards SIWES programme.

The award was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sikiru Lanre Nurudeen, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
