The Deputy Vice Chancellor

Dr. Sikiru Lanre Nurudeen Ph.D, mNPSA, mSPSP is an indigene of Okeode in Ifelodun Local Government, Kwara State. He attended Okeode Grammar School, Okeode, from 1973 to 1978. He worked briefly as a clerical officer with the United Bank Plc before he proceeded to the School of Basic Studies, Ilorin, between 1979 and 1981. He obtained a BSc. in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 1984. After his national youth service in 1985, Nurudeen joined the Herald Newspapers and rose to the position of the State House Correspondent of the tabloid between 1986 and 1988, during which he covered milestone national and international events. Not satisfied with his educational pursuits, Nurudeen later obtained an MSc. in Political Science from the University of Ilorin in 2006 and a Ph.D in Political Science from Kwara State University, Malete, in 2019. His tenure as a lecturer began at the Lagos State University, where he served as a part-time lecturer from 1986 to 1987. He joined the staff of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, on May 23, 2007, where he rose through the ranks to become an Associate Professor of Political Science, specializing in International Relations and Strategic Studies. In his close to twenty years of teaching experience in a university setting, Associate Professor Nurudeen has served in various capacities, which include Subdean, Student Affairs, Head of Department for two terms, Director of General Studies, Dean of Student Affairs, and Director of the Academic Planning Unit. He is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and a member of the Governing Council of the University. Associate Professor Nurudeen has published widely in reputable local, national, and international journals and has attended several conferences, seminars and workshops in Nigeria and abroad. He was conferred with the title of Chief Arogun of Okeode land in 2021. Nurudeen is happily married with children.
