Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, today made history as it organised the first Eid prayer in Adeta Campus after 21 years of the existence of the first Islamic faith-based university in Nigeria.
Leading the prayer, the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, thanked Allah for making the event a reality. In his sermon, Prof. Oladimeji reminded Muslims of Prophet Ibrahim’s faithfulness and steadfastness to Allah’s instructions concerning the sacrifice of his only son, Isma’il. He said Allah, in return, blessed the Prophet abundantly. According to him, Prophet Ibrahim, because of his obedience, was uplifted from among the pagans he was living with.
He prayed for a safe return and Allah’s blessing upon all Muslims presently on pilgrimage to the holy land. He also prayed for communities under the siege of bandits in Kwara State and Nigeria in general.
The founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji(Chief)Dr. Abdulraheem Oladimeji, the Asiwaju and Jagunmolu of Igbomina Land, Arogundade of Lagos, and Baba Oba of Offa, who spoke on the sidelines, expressed his joy in the success of the event and prayed for the members of the university community, and wished them a happy celebration.
