AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS SHINE AT THE 2025 AFRICAN STUDENT LEADERS WORKSHOP IN GHANA

The sun cast a golden hue over the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Ghana, as students from across Africa gathered for the prestigious 2025 African Student Leaders Workshop under the auspices of U6+ – a Consortium comprising prominent Universities in Africa of which Al-Hikmah University is a prominent member. The workshop took place between Monday, 24 and Tuesday, 25 March, 2025.

Five outstanding students from Al-Hikmah University were selected for the workshop. Representing diverse Faculties, Ummirahmat Danladi, Abdulsamad Ademola Tijani, Maryam Adeola Adebiyi, Ridwanullah Olalekan Aremu and Aminu Bio Musa arrived in Ghana with a mix of excitement and determination. The workshop was attended by Universities from Ghana,The Gambia, Kenya and four Universities in Nigeria namely Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, University of Ilorin,  Kwara State University, Malete and Federal University of Technology, Akure. From the opening ceremony, where the students were welcomed by dignitaries of the host Iniversity to their return trip to Nigeria it had been an eye-opening experience on the role of youth in shaping Africa’s future and the opportunities that abound for African youths.

Beyond the sessions, the Al-Hikmah team engaged in cultural exchanges, visiting the Cape Coast Castle and participating in various networking events. By the end of the workshop, they had not only learned valuable leadership skills but also built friendships that transcended borders.

As they returned back to the University, they carried with them a renewed sense of purpose—to implement the knowledge gained and inspire their peers at Al-Hikmah University. Their journey to Ghana had been more than just a workshop; it was a step toward shaping Africa’s future.
