AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY SECONDARY SCHOOL SS2 STUDENT, HIKMAH ABDULKAREEM, WON THE 2023 FEMALE SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Hikmah AbdulKareem has emerged the overall winner of the 2023 edition of TVC Women Network of Secondary School Female Championship Debate which was held on Saturday, 14th October, 2023, in the premises of TVC, Lagos.

The championship which was organized by TVC Women’s Network, was in line with the International Day of the Girl Child with the broad theme: Raising the next generation of young girls in a technologically advanced world.

The topic for the final debate was: Who should regulate the use of social media: parents or government? The five top finalists including Hikmah battled for one million Naira prize. Hikmah won the final debate with 345 points.

About 105 contestants drawn all over the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria competed in the debate.

According to the organizers of the championship, the contest was meant, among others, to:

  • nurture talents
  • inspire and Empowerment
  • open doors for incredible women un organizations, and
  • pave the way for brighter future for the female child.

Hikmah AbdulKareem was accompanied to the venue by the school principal, Mrs Raliat Brimoh.

Al-Hikmah University International School was established in 2021 by the current University management as a feeder to the University. The school is also an active participant of the Secondary School Mentoring Programme – an initiative of the University management which was conceived to mentor about 20 Secondary schools in Kwara State for exposure of students and their teachers to quality training, inter-school debates, quiz competitions and educational facilities.
