FORESTRY   RESEARCH INSTITUTE (FRIN), IBADAN TO LOCATE IT’S OUT-STATION IN
AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY

The Director-General of Forestry Research Institute (FRIN), Ibadan, Prof. Z. B. Yaduma, has hinted that the national institute would facilitate the establisment of its Out-Station in Al-Hikmah University.  He made this pledge when he led a research delegation from the Institute to Al-Hikmah University on Friday, 9th June, 2023 for discussion on collaboration and partnership with the University on Agricultural support, particularly,  forestry-related.

The delegation were hosted by the Founder who accorded them warm reception at his Adewole residence. Present at the Founder’s house was Alhaja Sekinat O.  Yusuf,  the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council who attended the event with other members of Council – Professors Muritala Awodun and Mukaila Aremu. The University management were fully present – Prof.  Noah Yusuf (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. G. O. Akashoro (Deputy Vice-Chancellor), Dr. K. A. Oladimeji (Bursar), Mr. Hafis Omoniyi (Bursar) and Mr. Isiaka Alao (Acting Librarian).

Afterwards, the delegation was led to Atere campus for visitation and commissioning of Atere Campus central mosque as well as inspection of on-going Faculty of Law Moot Court project.

The next visit was to the Faculty of Agriculture,  Igbaja Campus where the delegation was led by the Founder  to inspect the campus land and other facilities – the Faculty Farm,  pen houses, ruminants as well as classrooms and hostels.

The round-up  deliberation was held at the Faculty Board room with the Founder, Pro-Chancellor, members of Council, Management and Faculty of Agriculture staff present.

Among the resolutions reached are:

i) Establishment of FRIN Out-Station in Al-Hikmah University;
ii) Supply of 5,000 seedlings to support Al-Hikmah University Farm;
iii) Facilitate the establisment of Zoological garden at Igbaja Campus for teaching,  research and revenue generation; and
iv) Al-Hikmah University management is scheduled to visit FRIN on a date to be communicated shortly.

The delegation was later ushered to Adeta campus for inspection after which members departed to Ibadan.
