The Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences of the University receives COMEG accreditation certificste for her Geological Science programme at the Council of Nigeria Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG)’s Induction ceremony which was held recently in Abuja.
The professional accreditation authority visited about 30 Nigerian universities running Geosciences, Marine Engineering, Metallurgy and Mining Engineering Programmes to inspect available facilities in their respective institutions. The team was in Al-Hikmah University between 25th 28th October, 2023.
Alhamdulilah, our Great University, secured full Accreditation status for the programme.
The Induction and Presentation of Accreditation certificates ceremony which was subsequently held on Thursday, 14th December, 2023 at Rockview Hotel, Abuja, had in attendance, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Alake, COMEG’s President, Prof. Zachaeus Opafunsho, Council members and Heads of Department of relevant Geological Sciences and Minning programmes across Nigerian Universities.
In his address, the Honourable Minister cautioned that the era in which the country relies on oil for its economic development is over, because the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is committed to looking inward for economic diversification.
While congratulating the Inductees, Dr Alake challenged them to always avail themselves the opportunity of constant learning, stressing, that they must not take their training for granted, because the country counts on them to bring back its lost glory.
Highlights of the event was the symbolic presentation of the COMEG Accreditation Certificate to the Vice Chancellor Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Noah Yusuf (who was represented by the Head of Department, Chemical and Geological Sciences, Dr. AbdulRasaq K. Haruna) by the Honourable Minister. He explained that the presentation was due to the performance of Al-Hikmah University in the accreditation exercise, hence the invitation of Al-Hikmah University Vice Chancellor – the only Vice Chancellor invited to the Induction and Presentation of Accreditation Certificate ceremony.
Speaking further, Dr. Alake said the presentation of Accreditation Certificate to Prof. Yusuf was to encourage others to follow Al-Hikmah University’s good example and further attestation to the credible work of the University, urging the Vice Chancellor to continue in that line and further improve on his quality leadership for the benefit of all.
