Historical Background

Born and raised in Edo State, Nigeria. Originally from Ogbomoso, Oyo State. Attended Primary schools where church missionary parents served in Edo, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun States. Born and remains a devout Christian but enjoys cross-cultural religion, food and music.

Educational History

  • Attended the prestigious Christ’s School Ado-Ekiti; Victory College Ikare and Federal School of Science, Lagos for Secondary Ordinary and Advanced level Certificates. Awarded the Foreign Students’ Scholarship Award to study Basic Medical Sciences at the prestigious Ivy League School; Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut (1973-1977). Oyo State Govt. Scholarship award for Public Health at School of Public Health, University of North Carolina,Chapel-Hill (1977-1979). Served the obligatory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC)Program in Kwara State (1979-1980). Joined the department of Epidemiology and Community Health, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin on August 26, 1980 as an Assistant Lecturer. Entered the Ph.D. studies at Rakham School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Michigan and completed it at University of Ilorin in 2006. Currently an Associate Professor of Public Health Education and Sub-Dean (Academic) at the University of Ilorin Postgraduate School since November, 2011. Consults for various international and Nigerian NGOs, including UNICEF, WHO and Health Alive Foundation. Married with three children.
