Dr Q.O NURUDEEN

Senior Lecturer
quadriolaide@alhikmah.edu.ng
Department of Biological Science

Historical Background

I had my Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, where I studied Biochemistry with specialization in Reproductive Biochemistry, Phytomedicine and Toxicology. In addition, I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. My research work focuses on providing the most current knowledge on female sexual dysfunction, advances in basic science addressing this dysfunction, and exploring the development of therapeutic options. Nigeria is blessed with medicinal plants which are indigenous to our environment, but are largely unexplored. Hence, I am investigating how botanical-based extracts can halt the mechanisms behind female sexual dysfunction and help in enhancing fertility in females. In recent times, I have become interested in using Gas chromatography mass-spectroscopy (GC-MS), High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to probe further in the elucidation of the actual secondary metabolites that has the most profound effect in the management of female sexual dysfunction. In addition to my research, I have had the rewarding experience of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students. While my research and teaching interests have prepared me to be an effective researcher and instructor in my Department, and through my current status as the Acting Head of my Department, I have garnered astonishing display of strength from privileged preview to the pressing needs of my Department.
