Historical Background

SURAJU Saheed Badmus is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin. He is a specialist in Qur’an Exegesis and Islamic Theology (Tafsīr and cAqīdah). He joined the service of Al-Hikmah University as an Assistant Lecturer in 2011 after serving at the Federal College of Education, Yola from 2010 to 2011 as a Lecturer in the Department of Islamic Studies. He rose to through the ranks, with required experience in teaching, community service and research publications, to the position of Senior Lecturer in 2020. He has close to 35 publications to his credit. As an academic, he has been active at many research output and training avenues such as workshops, seminars and conferences in terms of attendance and paper presentation. He is a member of some academic and professional associations. He has served the University community in some areas such as Sub Dean, Student Affairs, Department and Faculty Examination Officer, Coordinator of Islamic GNS Courses and Ag. Dean of Student Affairs Unit.

Educational History

Born in Ondo town of Ondo State but Iwo by origin, SURAJU Saheed Badmus had his early education in Ondo. He obtained his Diploma in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the then College of Higher Education and Islamic Sciences, Ilorin in 2005. He gained admission to study Islamic Studies at Al-Hikmah University in 2006 and graduated with a B. A. (Hons), First Class Honour Division Degree in Islamic in 2009. After the NYSC service year in 2011, he obtained a Proficiency Certificate in Management from Nigerian Institute of Management. He joined University of Ilorin for his Master of Arts and graduated in 2013. In 2014, he continued his educational career at University of Ilorin and obtained his PhD in Islamic Studies in 2019. While he was pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy, SURAJU Saheed Badmus obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) at National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in 2005. In 2021, he became a Certified Teacher under Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.
