Authors’ Guidelines

The Al-Hikmah Journal of Politics and Public Administration (AHJPPA) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to publishing high-quality, original, and impactful research in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, and related fields. Authors are expected to strictly adhere to the following guidelines before submitting manuscripts.

1. Scope of the Journal

The journal accepts original scholarly works including:

  • Empirical research articles

  • Theoretical papers

  • Policy analyses

  • Case studies

  • Book reviews

  • Review articles

Submissions must align with the journal’s focus on governance, politics, public policy, administration, and development issues.

2. Originality and Ethical Standards

  • Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.

  • Authors must ensure proper citation of all sources.

  • Any form of academic misconduct will lead to immediate rejection.

3. Language and Presentation

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English (British English preferred).

  • The text should be free from grammatical and typographical errors.

  • Authors should ensure logical flow and coherence of arguments.

4. Manuscript Length

  • Research articles: 5,000 – 8,000 words (excluding references and abstract)

  • Book reviews: 1,000 – 1,500 words

  • Review articles: 4,000 – 6,000 words

5. Title Page Requirements

The title page must include:

  • Title of the paper (concise and informative)

  • Full names of author(s)

  • Institutional affiliation(s)

  • Email address of corresponding author

  • ORCID ID (if available)

6. Abstract and Keywords

  • Each manuscript must include an abstract of 200–250 words.

  • The abstract should briefly state: purpose, methodology, findings, and conclusion.

  • Authors must provide 4–6 keywords immediately after the abstract.

7. Manuscript Formatting

  • Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12

  • Line spacing should be 1.5 or double spacing

  • Pages must be numbered consecutively

  • Headings and subheadings should be clearly indicated

8. Referencing Style

  • The journal adopts APA 7th Edition referencing style.

  • All in-text citations must appear in the reference list and vice versa.

  • Authors are responsible for accuracy and completeness of references.

9. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

  • Tables and figures must be clearly labeled and numbered sequentially.

  • Sources (if any) must be indicated below each table/figure.

  • They should be placed within the text at appropriate points.

10. Submission Procedure

  • Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the official journal portal

11. Peer Review Process

  • All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

  • Authors may be required to revise manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.

  • Final acceptance is subject to editorial approval.

12. Copyright Policy

  • Authors retain responsibility for the content of their work.

  • Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal publication rights.

  • Reproduction of published work requires written permission from the journal.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

The Al-Hikmah Journal of Politics and Public Administration (AHJPPA) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all individuals who interact with the journal, including authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and website users.

Personal information collected by the journal is used strictly for academic and publishing purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, processing manuscript submissions, coordinating peer review activities, communicating editorial decisions, and maintaining accurate records of published works. The journal ensures that all personal data is handled responsibly and in accordance with accepted ethical publishing standards.

AHJPPA does not share personal information with third parties except where necessary for editorial, publishing, indexing, or legal purposes. In such cases, appropriate safeguards are taken to ensure that data is protected against unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.

The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential under the double-blind peer review policy, where applicable. Reviewers are expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscripts they evaluate and must not use any unpublished information for personal advantage.

By submitting manuscripts or engaging with the journal, users consent to the collection and use of their information as outlined in this statement. Authors retain responsibility for ensuring that any third-party data included in their submissions complies with applicable privacy and copyright laws.

AHJPPA reserves the right to update this Privacy Statement as necessary to reflect changes in policy, technology, or legal requirements. Any updates will be communicated through the journal’s official channels.
