BULLYING BEHAVIOUR AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OGUN STATE: COUNSELLING INTERVENTION APPROACH
Abstract
Bullying behaviour among secondary school students is a pervasive issue with profound implications for academic performance, emotional well-being, and school climate. This problem often occurs within social contexts where the extent of the issue is under-recognized by teachers and parents, and where bystanders may feel reluctant or uncertain about how to intervene. counselling interventions have emerged as a crucial strategy in addressing and mitigating bullying behaviour. This paper through adoption of systemic review of position style reflects on the essential role of counselling in combating bullying, reviews evidence-based practices, and offers actionable recommendations for integrating these interventions within secondary schools. Emphasizing a holistic approach, the discussion highlights the effectiveness of individual, group, and family counselling, as well as the importance of school-wide initiatives and continuous evaluation. The proposed strategies aim to create a safer, more supportive environment conducive to the overall development and well being of students.
