The play is a critical exploration of Soyinka’s Beatification of Area Boy: A Lagosian Kaleidoscope with the view of analysing the author’s perception of the contemporary African society. Using Beatification of Area Boy for an in-depth study, the paper examines some socio-political ills present in the African socio-political scene with the view of bringing sanity and national development in African countries. The study is hinged on the concept of satire with the aim of presenting literature in the African context as inevitable stimuli for change. The paper recommends literature as a therapy for sanity in Africa and concludes on the note that the positive re-creation of African countries depends on the joint effort of the citizens.
