ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF CULTURAL CAPITAL ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OYO STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract


Numerous experimental examinations have tried the center speculation in cultural multiplication
hypothesis that cultural capital has a positive, direct impact on educational achievement. This
research is concerned with the reasons for the differences in all round academic achievement of
students, and makes reference to cultural capital theory in explaining such imbalances in
society. Quantitative technique to quantify the impact of cultural capital of student's in their
school execution. Consequently, database of Oyo State instructing administration commission of
2018 was utilized. The investigation depends on the achievement of the utilization of Multiple
Linear Regression, in which the needy variable is the students' capability in science and English
Language tests. The autonomous factors are planned to cover the cultural capital, the
socioeconomic conditions, the contribution of families and the school instructive practices, just
as viewpoints, for example, locale of the nation, patron of the school system, sex and skin shade
of the students. Findings exhibited that cultural capital of students stays as a focal component in
molding the educational execution. It was recommended that students who will in general get
secondary school grades convey cultural items and have cultural propensities and family with
high education
