Abstract

This paper introduces the Inclusivity Theory of Leadership, which redefines leadership as a shared
moral trust (amānah) rooted in the Prophetic hadith: “All of you are shepherds, and all of you shall
be questioned about your flock.” The purpose of the study is to conceptualise a leadership model that
integrates Islamic ethical principles with contemporary leadership discourse and theories. Using a
qualitative and interpretive methodologies, the study draws on textual analysis of Islamic sources
and thematic review of leadership literature. Findings reveal that leadership in Islam is universal,
contextual, and ethically grounded, with every individual possessing a sphere of influence for
societal transformation. The study recommends embedding inclusivist leadership principles, which
stem from a holistic Islamic paradigm, in governance, peace-building, religious education, and
community development to promote justice, accountability, participatory social progress and
sustainable development.
