Abstract

This study examines the impact of internship programs on employability skills among public university graduates in 
Lagos State, Nigeria. Drawing on data from 400 graduates, the study found that internships significantly enhance 
employability skills, with supervision quality, industry collaboration, and program structure being critical success 
factors. ANOVA results confirmed the statistically significant improvements in specific skill domains. The study 
concludes that well-structured, industry-aligned internship programs with effective supervision can bridge the gap 
between academic training and labor market expectations. It recommends targeted policy and institutional 
interventions to improve internship accessibility, quality, and relevance across Nigerian public universities.
