PRINCIPALS’ ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS IN NIGERIA SECONDARY SCHOOLS: CHALLENGES AND WAY FORWARD

Abstract

Principals’ administrative tasks are indispensable instruments that enhance educational objectives and goals. This 
paper is therefore designed to look into the challenges and way forward of principals’ administrative tasks in 
Nigerian secondary schools It focuses on theoretical framework, principals’ administrative tasks in Nigerian public 
secondary schools, dimensions of principals’ administrative tasks in schools and challenges facing principals’ 
administrative tasks in Nigerian secondary schools. Based on this, it is suggested that, Federal and state governments 
should make and provide adequate infrastructural facilities and more instructional materials like laboratories, library 
chairs, table, desks, water, electricity, ICT facilities, classrooms, administrative offices, libraries, laboratories and 
whiteboard in Nigerian secondary schools for effective teaching to be improved as well as administration of the 
schools.
