PROMOTING LIFELONG LEARNING THROUGH ISLAMIC VALUES: THE ROLE OF MUSLIMWOMEN IN CHILD UPBRINGING

Abstract

This paper delves into the significant role played by Muslim women in fostering lifelong learning, focusing on
Islamic values, particularly in the realm of child rearing. In Nigeria, where Islamic principles deeply influence
societal norms, understanding how Muslim women contribute to continuous education and character building is of
utmost importance. The study aims to investigate the educational strategies and practices utilized by Muslim women
in Nigeria to cultivate lifelong learners and responsible citizens, explore the intersection of Islamic teachings with
modern educational theories to comprehend how Muslim women empower children to view learning as a lifelong
journey guided by moral and ethical principles, and provide insights into the distinct and impactful role of Muslim
women in shaping the educational environment and fostering a culture of lifelong learning within Nigerian society.
The recommendations stemming from this study may include encouraging collaboration between educational
institutions and Islamic scholars to integrate Islamic values into formal education curricula, offering training and
resources for Muslim women to enhance their child-rearing skills based on Islamic principles, promoting community
engagement and dialogue to raise awareness about the significance of lifelong learning and character development
from an Islamic perspective, and supporting initiatives that acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of Muslim
women in nurturing lifelong learners and responsible citizens in Nigerian society.
