The persistent school dropout in Nigeria threatens national development and youth prospects. This study, “Exploring Stakeholders’ Perspectives on Challenges, Opportunities, and Potential Solutions to School Dropouts in Nigeria’s Education System,” aimed to identify actionable solutions and apply Structural Strain Theory (innovation and conformity modes) to analyse reintegration pathways. Using a descriptive survey design within the University of Ilorin community, a purposive sample of 298 stakeholders (academic/non-academic staff and undergraduates) responded to a validated questionnaire (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.79). Data were analysed using mean scores, rank order, t-test and ANOVA. Key findings identified highly rated solutions (>2.94 mean), including national school construction, policy monitoring for reintegration, and scholarships for orphans. While a strong consensus existed overall, a significant gender-based variation in perspectives was found. The study concludes that implementing these structural solutions would mitigate dropout rates, demonstrates the relevance of Structural Strain Theory in educational equity, and recommends mobilising sponsors, philanthropists, and stakeholders to resource these initiatives for Nigeria’s educational future.
